1. Team Skills Every team, regardless of what they do (play basketball, sell computer training, launch spacecraft) utilizes the same basic Team Skills to work together:
In our complex professional lives, it’s easy to let these fundamentals slip. However, nothing is more essential to a productive team. Without these skills, friction increases and mistakes happen, leading to lost sales, mistrust, inefficiency, and lost profit.
Team Summit stimulates and builds these skills.
These attributes are so fundamental to success in Team Summit that teams cannot complete the challenges without them. Hang on a rope without trusting your belayer? Not a chance. Get your blindfolded climber to the top of the wall without an appropriate plan of action and clear, concise communication? No way.
2. The Environment Team Summit offers the team a new environment in which to engage each other. Probably the only place that our clients interact with each other is at the office where every member has a role in the hierarchy and everybody wears their ‘game face.’
The rock climbing walls and terrain of our facility are alien to the entire staff, including the boss, and put everybody on the same level. This foreign environment dissolves the framework that the team is used to and allows them to focus on building and improving their Team Skills.
Placing members in this brand-new environment and having them solve problems together encourages them to learn about and appreciate each other, which is critical to a healthy team.
3. Facilitation In theory, it’s easy to see that the same Team Skills that allow teams to achieve success in Team Summit challenges also allow them to work together in the office. But to drive the lesson home, every session is directed by an expert facilitator who makes this connection explicit and guides every discussion toward solutions for the workplace.
Usually during the “life” of a TS session, team members start out reticent with arms crossed. But as the session proceeds, and more goals are achieved together, even the most laconic members start contributing to solution-focused discussions about how to solve problems and stay on the right course at work.
Even with sensitive subjects such as an employee that “nobody gets along with” or a “close-minded” boss, our facilitators help overcome these obstacles by focusing on the solution, not the problem.
4. Tangible, Specific, Attainable A lot of ‘team building’ programs out there have a positive effect on teams, allowing them to experience short term boosts in morale. That’s fine, but where TEAM SUMMIT surpasses these programs is in the session development, facilitation, and focus-on-solution.
Instead of using the same format for every client, we develop a customized program for each team’s needs. This is based on a confidential survey that staff members fill out and send directly to TSI together with our interview with the Team Leader to determine your company’s specific Goals and Obstacles.
The facilitator guides your team through the session to distill all of the unique challenges and discussions into a handful of SUMMIT SOLUTIONS. These are tangible, specific, and attainable goals that your team sets for returning to the office. Platitudes are great for short-term good feelings, but TEAM SUMMIT gives your team Rock Solid tools for improvement.
A little coaching can go a long way. 30 days after your session, your team leader will receive a follow-up call from TEAM SUMMIT headquarters. We want to know what progress you’ve made and offer tips to keep the momentum going. |
